Fire Mitigation in DR's Open Space

In the summer of 2018 formal planning and implementation of a shaded fuel break was completed.  The goal was to enhance mitigation for lots 18 and 19. The shaded fuel break is about 370 ft wide by 300 feet deep.

Planning was done by the Colorado State Forest Service.  Actual tree cutting was done by Elk Creek Fire Department.

The effort shows a way toward a future Open Space mitigation effort to protect the neighborhood from a wildfire threat from the southwest - as discussed in the DR Assessment.
