Discussion Topics
a. JeffCo Re-zoning Request - Retreat & Conference Center
The Board is opposed to the Retreat & Conference Center. Ads are being placed expressing our opposition. Jefferson County Commissioners will hold a hearing on the matter on October 25th.
b. Elk Creek Wildland Fire Specialist’s Assessment
The recent Douglass Ranch Firewise Community assessment as performed by Elk Creek Fire Department is the first step in obtaining a Firewise Community designation for
Douglass Ranch. A followup meeting with Chief McLaughlin will be arranged to further understand the ratings given to neighborhood properties.
c. Fire Ban Restrictions- Position Papers
Two position papers regarding fire ban restrictions were discussed. The DR attorney stated the Board has legal authority to impose a fire ban. A question was posed as to whether nearby HOA's impose similar bans.
d. Survey Amended Covenants & Design Review Board
The recent survey to remove the Design Review Standards from the Covenants did not have enough votes. Thus updates to the Design Review Standards are more difficult to implement.
Member Comments/New Business
One comment was received that this meeting was more of an informative meeting rather than a decision making meeting. Another meeting should be held in three months.
